Eiffel Tower

Eiffel Tower, originally uploaded by davisonja.

Which, in due course, brings us to Paris - home of the Eiffel Tower.

Not that this is where we started, of course. No trip to a foreign country is complete without first landing, with a budget airline, and getting bussed from the plane to the terminal. Terminal 3, at Charles de Gaull. While there are trains that leave from the terminal, and dedicated shuttle trains to whisk you to and from terminals one and two, Terminal 3 is clearly the runt of the litter. Still seemingly under construction there was little there at all. But we're getting ahead of ourselves in this stunningly detailed drivel. Before I can amuse you with our near-panic we have to cover customs. From the self-centric pom who moaned that the line through immigration was too slow, and that Heathrow knew how to do it properly (listening to him further (nothing else to do) it became apparent that he wasn't actually complaining that the line was slow, but that, since he had a UK, and thus EU, passport, he should be being fast-tracked through the process and anyone else could just suffer) to the two customs women who not only spoke no english (can't hold that against them) but appeared quite disgruntled that we had actually attempted to declare something, didn't speak french and had supporting documentation that was also not in french. I have no idea if we ended up concluding anything, but we were eventually waved on through.
